The Hawthorn Press
is a specialist publisher of poetry based in North Norfolk. The
husband and wife team of writer Alan Byford and artist Diane
Griffiths published Charles’s first chapbook The Storm Bell,
and have also published William Wordsworth’s Socks (both
these early chapbooks are still available). Most recently, they have
featured a variety of titles, including several artist’s books
published under their Crataegus imprint.
365 Apples has black and white illustrations by Diane and is a revised and updated version of the Dragon Orchard poems. Dianne has also produced a hard-back limited edition artist’s book of all twelve poems featuring an impressive accordion fold-out construction. The book (which is limited to 24 editions) is printed on Hahnemuhle etching paper with hand set letterpress text on 4 reduction woodcut backgrounds. A Year Underwater is a stunningly inventive card-covered booklet featuring a series of four poems which opens out in to a single sheet. The pond featured in each poem can then be found in the middle of the page. Limited to an edition of 30, the artist’s book featured hand-set letterpress text with mixed media relief and stencil printed background with some hand colouring. More information can be found on their website. Books may be ordered by emailing Diane at cidesterna@aol.com |
